Winning a small business award is a great way to get publicity for your company, making yourself look very credible to potential clients. But how do you achieve such a feat? Try the steps below and you could have yourself a nice achievement in the near future!

Step 1: Keep an eye out for awards and contests you could enter to achieve an award from.  You can learn about awards in your local newspaper’s business section, email newsletters and relative Web sites.

Step 2: Check with local organizations to see if they award achievements to small businesses like your own.  Often, governmental entities like cities, towns or boroughs do this. Also, look into chambers of commerce and non-profit groups.

Step 3: Don’t shy away from vendors. Be aware of their newsletters and email alerts. You could find information in their about possible awards that could pertain to your business.

Step 4: Don’t be too humble to nominate yourself, or your customers for an award.  If a customer is nominated, they might keep you in mind for the future.  Nominating others also gives you practice and knowledge as to what makes a business nomination-worthy, and you can work to make your business obtain those traits.
