Heavy cream is a decadent ingredient that is extremely handy to have in your kitchen…not to mention it’s incredible ability to make just about anything taste better once you add it.  Heavy whipping cream has a fat content between 36% and 40% and can be found at most grocery stores.  In most recipes, you may substitute light whipping cream, which has a fast content between 18% and 30%.

The easiest and most cost effective way to whip heavy cream is to use a wire whisk.  The trick is to turn the cream rapidly and introduce lots of air.  You will be required to put a little “elbow grease”, so if this isn’t your style, you should choose a different option.

Once you have poured the desired amount of cream into a bowl, simply take the whisk and stir the cream in a clockwise motion.  After a little bit of time, the cream will begin to thicken.  When it is the thickness that you desire, you’re done!  How easy was that?

Another way to whip cream is to use a kitchenaid mixer, or even a food processor.  Attach the paddle to the mixer and set it to a medium setting.  As with the whisk, you are done when you reach your desired thickness.  You can also try using a handheld mixer or a teenage kid :)  Good luck and don’t make a mess!
