So, you want to know how to get rid of stretchmarks? Stretch marks generally appear when the skin changes fast rapidly. For example, there is weight gain, loss or pregnancy. The difference in the skin will cause a rip in the middle layer of skin, also known as the dermis. Stretch marks begin with a reddish-purple color, but can fade to a silver color that is not as noticeable. Read below to figure out how to get rid of your stretch marks.

If pregnant, and your belly is tight and itchy, gain comfort by applying a moisturizer often. Cocoa butter and shea butter work well.

  • If you are self-conscious about your stretch marks, choose clothing that hides them. For example, avoid tops that expose the midriff.
  • Stretch marks are common; you are not alone if you have them.
  • Avoid sunless tanning lotions, or tanning beds as a way to hide stretch marks. Stretched skin does not tan and this skin will color differently than the healthy skin.
