Hmmm…let me guess…you are unhappy with your current job and while daydreaming about a brand new 911 turbo it hit you…”I should get a job at Porsche!”. Well, today is your lucky day, because I’m going to give you some helpful information on how to get a job with Germany’s hottest auto manufacturer.
Now, Porsche is a global company, so you don’t necessarily have to pack your bags and set your sights on Germany. There are plenty of opportunities all over the world to work with Porsche, especially if your main interest is to sell these fine cars.
Porsche employs roughly 12,000 people worldwide and has dealerships in most major cities across the United States. Your best bet, if you are looking for a sales job, is to call your nearest dealer and ask them what the requirements are. Requirements vary from dealer to dealer, but one thing remains the same across the board - Porsche wants to hire the best sales staff they possibly can. This doesn’t necessarily mean that you have to have 20 years of experience selling cars. They also look for people who are quick and have a passion for the car. A deep knowledge of Porsche history and model information is a definite requirement. You need to do your homework (although you probably already know every last bit of information) before you start seeking employment.
A good place to start is at Porsche’s very own job board. You will find a job locator and some other useful information at their site. Also, keep in mind, most people searching for a job simply click on links and send out emails. You want to be different. Pick up the phone and speak to someone on the phone. Let them know who you are and why you would be a good fit. This should happen before you even submit your resume. Go to the dealership and meet the manager. Show that you are sincere and that you will make a great addition to their team.
Good luck! And remember, when you get an awesome job with Porsche, you can send me a free 911! ![]()
