Since salmon for the most part move to fresh water to spawn, they are said to be the healthiest fish, or even seafood.  Many salmon recipes are high in protein, minerals and vitamins.  Cutting salmon can be a difficult task, but follow these simple rules to find out how to filet this nutritious fish.

Step 1: Place the salmon on a large and flat cutting board.  Make sure you have ample room to cut the fish.

Step 2: Wash the entire body of the salmon, using cold water.  Peel off any unwanted parts of the fish, like head, tail and fins.

Step 3: Reverse the knife and cut the bone of the fish. Then, slice the meat and the skin. Repeat this again by reversing the fillet.

Step 4: Cut the rib cage away from the other parts of the fillet; place it flat.  Use cold water again to wash the fish thoroughly.

Step 5: Cook the salmon, seasoning to your taste, and enjoy this nutritious delight.

Tips

  • Be careful when cutting the fish; do not cut your finger.
  • Fish generally is done cooking within 10-15 minutes.
