How To Defrost An Iced Car

Attempting to drive in a car that is covered with ice can be dangerous to you and others on the road.  It is vitally important to take proper caution before venturing out in icy weather.  The main thing to remember before defrosting your vehicle is that it may take a few minutes.  Never spray your car with water, especially when the weather outside is still below freezing.

Step 1 – turn on the defrost

Before you start scraping your windows, turn on your defrost.  Combined with scraping, your car’s defrost becomes very efficient.

Step 2 – scrape the ice away

There  are many products available commercially that can scrape ice off the windows of your car.  If you don’t have one of these gadgets, you can use a firm kitchen spatula.  Start where you see an opening and work your way from top to bottom.

Step 3 – clean the windows

With a soft cloth, wipe the windows clean.  This is important if the ice has caused streaks.  You want the windows to be clear so that you can drive defensively and cautiously.
