Planning a trip? Possibly something exciting like a honeymoon or exciting vacation and looking for anything that will save you a few bucks? One of the biggest costs is the hotel room stay.  Follow these steps and you will likely leave the hotel with some money in your wallet.

Step 1: Determine your destination.  If you are going through a travel agent, make sure they are aware that you want to cut costs as much as possible.

Step 2: Along with the hotel room, figure out where any other costs can be cut.  The agent will help you organize the details of your trip and often can help you get lower rates, but you still might be able to save money without their services.

Step 3: The Internet is a marvelous tool for hotel savings.  Book your room at least six months in advance to save money, and also secure your reservation.  Also, compare several hotels to get the best deal.

Step 4: Confirm your reservation.  Although you have booked lodging, you will want to verify it two weeks before your destination date.

Step 5: Figure out what services will be offered in your package.  Often, hotel facilities offer services included in the price of your stay.  It is best to be knowledgeable of what is included so you do not get mistakenly charged for something you didn’t want.

Tips

  • When shopping for the best deal, you might find one hotel has a much lower price.  Before jumping on it, make sure it is rated as high as the other facilities.
  • Print out any confirmations you may have received.
